A Nami Island day trip from Seoul is one of the easiest ways to add nature, outdoor activities and regional Korean food to a Seoul itinerary.
Instead of visiting Nami Island and immediately returning to Seoul, you can continue farther along the Gyeongchun Line to Chuncheon.
That gives you a full-day route:
Seoul → Gapyeong → Nami Island Zipline → Nami Island → Chuncheon → Dakgalbi → Seoul
It’s a busy day, but the route is surprisingly straightforward if you start early.
Recommended One-Day Route
I’d organize the day like this:
07:30–08:00 — Leave Seoul

09:00 — Arrive around Gapyeong
↓
09:30 — Nami Island Zipline
↓
10:00–13:00 — Explore Nami Island
↓
13:30 — Return to Gapyeong Station
↓
14:00–15:00 — Travel to Chuncheon
↓
15:00–17:00 — Chuncheon sightseeing
↓
17:00–18:30 — Dakgalbi dinner
↓
Evening — ITX back to Seoul
Exact train times change, so use this as an itinerary structure rather than a fixed timetable.
1. Seoul to Gapyeong by ITX-Cheongchun
For foreign travelers, the easiest train option is usually the ITX-Cheongchun.
It connects Seoul with Gapyeong and Chuncheon.
Current official Nami Island transportation information lists approximate travel times of:
Yongsan → Gapyeong: about 60 minutes
Cheongnyangni → Gapyeong: about 42 minutes
If your hotel is in eastern or central Seoul, Cheongnyangni can be particularly convenient.
You can also use the regular Gyeongchun Line from Sangbong, but ITX is generally faster and more comfortable for a day trip.
2. Gapyeong Station to Nami Island
Nami Island’s ferry dock is roughly 1.5 km from Gapyeong Station.
The official Nami Island guide estimates:
Walking → about 20 minutes
Bus or taxi → about 5 minutes
For this itinerary, I’d take a taxi.
You’re trying to fit Nami Island and Chuncheon into the same day, so saving 15–20 minutes early in the morning is worthwhile.
3. Enter Nami Island by Zipline
This is the fun part.
Instead of taking the normal ferry into the island, you can use the Nami Island Zipline.
The ride begins from an approximately 80-meter-high tower and covers nearly 1 km over the Bukhangang River.
There are currently two main options:
Family Course — ₩55,000
Runs directly toward Nami Island.
Adventure Course — ₩58,000
Runs toward Jarasum, followed by a motorboat ride to Nami Island.
For this itinerary, I’d choose the Family Course because it takes you directly toward Nami Island and keeps the day simple.
Current operating hours are generally:
09:00–18:00
and the official requirements list:
Height: 140–200 cm
Weight: 45–120 kg
If you’re specifically coming for the zipline, check availability before your trip because weather and operational conditions can affect activities.
4. What If You Don’t Want the Zipline?
Just use the ferry.
Current general admission for an adult is ₩19,000, which includes the round-trip ferry.
Normal ferry service currently runs roughly:
08:00–09:00 → every 30 minutes
09:00–18:00 → every 10–20 minutes
18:00–21:00 → every 30 minutes
The boat journey itself takes only around five minutes.
So the zipline is an experience, not something you need in order to enjoy the island.
5. Spend About 2–3 Hours on Nami Island
You don’t need an entire day here if you’re continuing to Chuncheon.
Two to three hours is enough for a relaxed walk and photos.
Popular areas include the island’s famous tree-lined paths, gardens and riverside scenery.
Nami Island became especially famous internationally after appearing in the Korean drama Winter Sonata, and its Metasequoia and Ginkgo Tree lanes remain popular photo locations.
Don’t try to photograph every corner.
Pick a few areas, walk slowly and leave enough time for Chuncheon.
6. Take the Ferry Back
Even if you entered Nami Island by zipline, the easiest exit is usually the ferry.
The zipline ticket’s current Family Course pricing includes Nami Island admission and the return ferry.
Once you’re back at the dock:
Taxi → Gapyeong Station
Then continue toward Chuncheon.
7. Gapyeong to Chuncheon
This part is easy.
Official Nami Island transportation information currently lists:
Gyeongchun Line: Chuncheon ↔ Gapyeong about 28 minutes
ITX-Cheongchun: Chuncheon ↔ Gapyeong about 20 minutes
That’s why combining Nami Island and Chuncheon in one day actually makes sense.
You’re already traveling in the right direction.
8. Visit Soyanggang Skywalk
Once you reach Chuncheon, one easy sightseeing option is Soyanggang Skywalk.
The skywalk stretches 174 meters over the river, including a 156-meter transparent glass-floor section.
Current operating hours are:
March–October: 10:00–21:00
November–February: 10:00–18:00
Admission is currently ₩2,000.
It’s particularly attractive later in the afternoon because the riverside scenery works well around sunset.
9. Eat Chuncheon Dakgalbi
Don’t leave Chuncheon without eating dakgalbi.
Chuncheon is considered the birthplace and center of this spicy stir-fried chicken dish.
The easiest area for tourists is:
Chuncheon Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street
It’s a roughly 150-meter street packed with dakgalbi restaurants, and you’ll also find another Chuncheon specialty:
Makguksu — buckwheat noodles.
A good meal would be:
Dakgalbi

Fried rice after the dakgalbi
That’s a very Chuncheon way to finish the day.
10. Explore Chuncheon Myeongdong
Don’t confuse this with Myeongdong in Seoul.
Chuncheon also has its own Myeongdong.
It’s the city’s central shopping and entertainment area and connects directly with Dakgalbi Street and Jungang Market.
You don’t need several hours here.
Walk around, eat dinner and experience the downtown atmosphere before heading back to the station.
11. Return to Seoul by ITX
From Chuncheon, take the ITX-Cheongchun back toward Seoul.
ITX runs from Chuncheon toward Cheongnyangni and Yongsan.
For a weekend trip, I’d reserve both your outbound and return trains in advance.
You don’t want to finish dinner and discover that the departure time you wanted is sold out.
Why I Recommend Train Instead of the Seoul Shuttle Bus
Nami Island currently has a direct round-trip shuttle from places such as Hongdae, Myeongdong and Dongdaemun.
That’s convenient if you’re doing:
Seoul → Nami Island → Seoul
But the official shuttle is sold as a round-trip service rather than a one-way ticket.
That makes it less suitable for this itinerary because you’re continuing to Chuncheon instead of returning directly from Nami Island.
For a Nami Island day trip from Seoul that includes Chuncheon, the train gives you much more flexibility.
How Much Time Do You Need?
For this exact route, I’d allow:
Transportation from Seoul → around 1 hour
Zipline + waiting → around 30–60 minutes
Nami Island → 2–3 hours
Nami to Chuncheon transfer → around 1 hour including local transfers
Chuncheon sightseeing → 1–2 hours
Dinner → 1–1.5 hours
This is a genuine full-day trip.
Don’t start at noon.
Best Season for This Trip
Spring
Comfortable temperatures and fresh greenery.
Summer
Very green, but hot and humid. The zipline can be particularly fun in clear weather.
Autumn
Probably my favorite season because Nami Island is famous for its fall colors.
Winter
A completely different atmosphere with snow possible, but temperatures can become very cold.
If the zipline is important to you, weather matters more than season.
What to Bring
Keep it simple:
Comfortable walking shoes
You’ll walk quite a lot.
Portable battery
Maps, photos and train tickets consume battery.
Light jacket
Especially in spring or autumn.
Small backpack
Easier than carrying large luggage.

Save your ticket before leaving Seoul.
Is Nami Island + Chuncheon Too Much for One Day?
Not if you start early.
The mistake would be adding another major attraction such as Petite France or Garden of Morning Calm to the same itinerary.
Then the day becomes rushed.
For one day, I’d keep it to:
Nami Island + Zipline + Chuncheon
That’s enough.
If Nami Island is your priority, spend more time there.
If food and local city atmosphere matter more, leave the island earlier and give Chuncheon more time.
